Flowers in Dublin
Dublin has no large dedicated flower market. Its best-known flower tradition is the street flower sellers of Grafton Street, who trade from licensed pitches at the corners of Chatham, Harry and Duke Streets. The licences are passed down within families. A dublin.ie profile of the Kelly family traces their trade there back at least to a grandmother selling in the 1940s, and the trade continues with a fourth generation. When seller Theresa Kelly died in 2014, her horse-drawn hearse was given special permission to pass down Grafton Street. In 2019 a property group called the stalls 'street clutter', then withdrew the complaint and apologised.
