The city
Orticola
Milan's best-known flower market is a seasonal one: Orticola, a show-market of flowers, plants and unusual fruit held each May in the Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli in Porta Venezia. It is organised by Orticola di Lombardia, a horticultural association founded in 1865, which began the event in 1996 with the patronage of the City of Milan. Proceeds from tickets go to the care of the city's public green spaces. The 2026 edition, the 29th, ran from 7 to 10 May with more than 160 selected nursery exhibitors, while the companion FuoriOrticola programme spread floral displays through museums, villas and historic shops across the city during May.
