The city
Mercato dei Fiori
Rome's wholesale flower market, the Mercato dei Fiori, stood at Via Trionfale 45 in the north-west of the city for nearly 60 years. The covered hall served trade buyers during the week and opened to the public on Tuesday mornings, and guides described it as Italy's third-largest market for cut flowers and its largest for ornamental plants. After part of the ceiling collapsed on 28 October 2022, it was closed for safety reasons and the market moved, initially as a temporary measure, to the Centro Carni complex on Viale Palmiro Togliatti. Rome's tourist office lists it there as a wholesale market of about 150 producers from Lazio and neighbouring regions.
- The market operated at Via Trionfale 45 for nearly 60 years and closed after a ceiling collapse on 28 October 2022 (AGI).
- It was moved 'temporarily' to the Centro Carni on Via Togliatti (AGI); Turismo Roma now lists the Mercato dei Fiori at Viale Palmiro Togliatti 1280.
- At Via Trionfale it was open to the public on Tuesdays, 10:00-13:00, and was described as Italy's third-largest cut-flower market and first for ornamental plants (ilturista.info; Wikivoyage).
- The current site hosts about 150 regional producers and 42 wholesalers (Turismo Roma).
