The city
Bloemenmarkt Janskerkhof
Utrecht holds two flower markets every Saturday in its old centre. On Janskerkhof, the square behind St John's Church (Janskerk), a flower and plant market has run on Saturdays for as long as anyone can remember, according to the city's tourism office. Its stalls sell cut flowers, bulbs, house plants and garden plants, and in spring some carry more than 700 varieties of garden plants. A second market lines the Oudegracht canal between Zakkendragerssteeg and Bakkerstraat, on both sides of the Bakkerbrug, where around 50 stalls sell only cut flowers beside the water.
